First Work Period Concluded
Inside the Mountain February 27, 2007
Arise, cry aloud in the night At the beginning of the night watches; Pour out your heart like water Before the presence of the Lord; Lift up your hands to Him For the life of your little ones (Lamentations 2:19).
Since our last update:
The House debated Iraq and passed its resolution H.Con.Res. 63.
The Senate passed H.J.Res. 20, the spending bill to finish out Fiscal Year 2007,
and failed to proceed on its Iraq bill, S. 574.
Both chambers were off on the President's Day recess last week. The first working period ran from the convening of Congress at the beginning of January until this first recess.
The next work period runs from the President's Day recess until the Spring/Easter recess.
The House was intentionally waiting until after the recess last week to roll out its domestic agenda.
The Senate will likely continue its unfinished agenda.
Minimum Wage is expected to be the first major domestic bill to pass.
In terms of foreign policy, we expect the Iraq debate will shift from one of "disapproval" to one over funding the continued operations.

The big question is does this bill "make it easier for workers to unionize" or make it easier for unions to unionize workers?

Iraq Vote In Senate Blocked By GOP Senate Republicans for a second time blocked a symbolic attempt by Democrats to reject President Bush's troop increase yesterday, but GOP defections were higher than before, suggesting Republican cracks as the Iraq war dominates Congress's agenda.
Continuing in the Senate
- Pray for the peace of Baghdad and Iraq. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem
- Pray that our leaders would pray for peace in Iraq!
- Pray that pastors all across our country would pray for peace in Iraq!
- Pray that our leaders in church and in state would beg the people across this land to pray for peace in Iraq every day until our troops can leave behind a stable government in Iraq.
Seek the welfare of the city (Babylon/Baghdad) where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf; for in its welfare you will have welfare (Jeremiah 29:7).
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you. "May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces." For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, "May peace be within you." For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good (Psalm 122:6-9).
