                        Thursday, July 27, 2017

Mr. HUFFMAN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Rotaplast International's 25th Anniversary of enabling children across the world with cleft lips and palates to receive life-changing surgery.

Founded in 1992 as part of the Rotary Club of San Francisco by its members Dr. Angelo Capozzi and Peter Lagarias, Rotaplast has since sponsored over 200 missions that have helped over 18,000 children worldwide. From the fast mission to La Serena in northern Chile, Rotaplast has been saving smiles and changing lives in 26 countries, including Chile, Columbia, Guatemala, Mexico, the Philippines, India, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.

Rotaplast is able to do this tremendous work because of the thousands of medical [[Page E1074]] professionals and Rotarians who volunteer countless hours of their time to this worthy endeavor. Multi-disciplinary teams of medical professionals travel around the world to provide free training to care for the children, in addition to the free reconstructive surgery. These volunteers help foster Rotaplast's mission of building goodwill among people from different countries, languages, cultures, and ways of life, and the education Rotaplast provides its patients and their families will help improve lives long after Rotaplast leaves.

Thanks to the support of Rotary International and the many Rotary Clubs and Districts around the world who have participated in this program, Rotaplast International's work in my district and around the world has been exemplary. It is therefore fitting to honor and thank Rotaplast for 25 years of success in changing children's lives and adhering to Rotary International's motto of “doing good in the world.” I offer them my sincere congratulations and best wishes for many more years of service. ____________________
